Lifetime Theological
Education
The Mission Statement of Virginia Theological Seminary emphasizes the life of
prayer, worship and community, the ministries of preaching, teaching, pastoral care and
social justice. Lifetime theological education at Virginia Seminary seeks to offer
education and training for clergy and lay people in these areas of Christian faith and
life.
The Doctor of Ministry is a degree
program designed for clergy with professional experience. Participants complete some of
the work in residency and some at home. The
program was revised 2000-2001 and we welcome your participation in this revised
exciting program. For those clergy and lay people who are interested in continuing
their theological studies or in learning skills for leadership and ministry without
receiving a degree, other options are available.
The center for Lifetime Theological Education offers many different
courses and seminars for clergy and lay leaders. These events are set both on the
campus and at other centers around the country. We draw upon our own faculty and
upon teachers and trainers from a wide variety of institutions and training
organizations. Participants who attend our events can expect excellent instructors
and programs designed to enrich and enhance ministry. Whether a program is on or off
the campus the setting will always be comfortable and hospitable. Guest houses on
the campus are handsomely appointed rooms with private baths and air conditioning.
All participants are welcome to our regular worship in the chapel and are given full use
of our theological library. Please consult our current and upcoming offerings for programs to find what will suit your
needs for continuing your lifetime theological education.
Many different courses are offered for lay and ordained people. Click below
